Terms & Conditions.

Effective date: 21 October 2026 · Version: 1.8

These terms are specific to Doddl: the mobile app and the doddl.app website. By creating an account you agree to them. They’re written to be read, not skimmed past. They’re short.

Doddl is a service for businesses. It is for people in the UK who work for themselves as sole traders. By creating an account you confirm that you are in business as a sole trader in the UK, and that you are using Doddl for that business and not as a private individual.

1. Who we are

Doddl is provided by Doddl Labs Limited (“we”, “us”).

  • Registered company number: 17364783
  • Registered address: 167-169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London, W1W 5PF
  • Contact: hello@doddl.app

2. What Doddl does

Doddl helps you keep your money records in one place: you add your bank statements, sort each payment (work or not) and Doddl shows you how much to set aside for your tax.

Where your return is within the service shown in the app, Doddl also prepares it from the information you provide and sends it to HMRC after you review and confirm it. Setting up your HMRC details does not itself submit a return.

Your number is an estimate, there to help you set aside the right amount. Your exact figure is confirmed when your year is filed.

3. What Doddl is not

  • Doddl is not tax, financial or legal advice, and we are not your accountant. It does the maths on the books you build in the app; decisions about your own tax affairs stay yours. If something about your situation needs a person, the Doddl team can help from Support in the app.
  • Doddl is independent software. We are not HMRC, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by HMRC or any government body.
  • Doddl’s chat answers come from AI. Answers in Ask Doddl and the instant replies in Help & support are written by AI. They can be wrong, and they are not advice. A person from the Doddl team is always there if you ask for one.
  • Doddl only knows what you give it. The estimate is built from the payments in your account and how you’ve sorted them. If money comes in or goes out somewhere Doddl can’t see, the estimate won’t include it.

4. Your account

You sign in with your mobile number and a one-time passcode. Keep your phone and number secure: anyone with access to them could access your account. Your account is for you personally and for your own business records. Let us know straight away at hello@doddl.app if you think someone else has used it.

We provide Doddl to you as a business, on the strength of what you confirmed when you created your account: that you are a sole trader in the UK using Doddl for your work. If that stops being true, tell us at hello@doddl.app.

Government Gateway details entered for tax filing are separate from your Doddl sign-in. You enter them each time you send a return; we use them only for that sign-in check and submission, and never store them.

5. Your side of the deal

  • Give us accurate information, and upload only statements for accounts you’re entitled to use.
  • Check the return information before you confirm that it should be sent to HMRC.
  • Sorting your payments is yours to do: Doddl doesn’t decide for you what counts as work. The quality of your numbers follows from the quality of your sorting.
  • You stay responsible for your own tax affairs, including anything you send to HMRC and when you send it.

6. Fair use

Don’t use Doddl to break the law, to handle anyone else’s data without their permission, or to probe, overload or interfere with the service. Don’t copy, resell or reverse-engineer the app. We can suspend or close accounts that do any of these.

7. Plans and payment

Doddl starts with a 14-day free trial, then a paid plan. If you don’t carry on paying, you can still open the app and read your books, but you can’t keep using its full features. What each plan includes, what it costs, and how billing works are shown to you before you pay anything, and those details form part of these terms when you subscribe. We’ll always tell you before a price change affects you.

Paying through the App Store. If you subscribe or buy a one-off return inside the iPhone app, Apple takes the payment and holds the receipt. Your subscription renews through your Apple account until you cancel it there. Refunds for App Store purchases are decided by Apple under Apple’s rules, not by us. We can’t issue or refuse one, though we can help you find where to ask.

Paying on our website. If you subscribe or buy a one-off return at doddl.app, we take the payment by card through our payment provider. A subscription that starts with a free trial is charged for the first time when the trial ends, and then at each renewal, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account page; cancelling stops the next payment and your plan runs to the end of the period you’ve paid for.

Refunds. Payments are not refundable, except in exceptional cases that a member of the Doddl team decides on individually. Two cases are always refunded in full: a one-off return you paid for that we then find we can’t prepare for you, and an annual plan bought under an offer whose conditions you turn out not to meet, where we tell you so. In every other case, cancelling stops the next payment but does not return a payment already made. A tax return that has been sent to HMRC can’t be unsent, so a refund never undoes a filing. If you believe something has gone wrong, message us in the app and a person will look at it.

Your legal rights. Nothing in this section takes away rights you have under consumer law that we can’t exclude.

8. Founding creators (pilot)

If you joined Doddl through our founding creators pilot (the first 10 places offered at doddl.app/join), this section applies to you.

  • Your founding offer is the sole trader plan, free for one year from the day your account is set up. “The sole trader plan” means that plan as it exists and evolves over time.
  • We’ll tell you before the free year ends. After it, the plan carries on at the normal price unless you cancel, and you can cancel at any point before then.
  • The offer does not include other plans or paid extras, now or in future. VAT features, any Pro or higher tier, and paid add-ons are separate, and you’re welcome to them at the normal price.
  • The offer is personal to you and your account. It can’t be transferred, shared, or sold.
  • During the pilot, Doddl is provided through Apple’s TestFlight as beta software: things may change, break, or be reset while we improve it.
  • Being a founding creator means taking part: honest feedback when we ask for it, and the setup session. If an account is clearly not participating in the pilot, we may move it to a standard plan after telling you first.
  • Everything else in these terms applies as normal.

9. Earn links

Where your account shows Earn, Doddl shows you TikTok Shop affiliate links supplied by our partner agencies. The links and their rates are the seller’s and the agencies’, not ours: rates are set by the seller and can change, and sales, approval, tracking and payment all happen on TikTok Shop under TikTok’s terms. We don’t promise that any link will earn you anything, and we can add, change or remove links at any time.

Doddl takes nothing from these links. The agencies earn their own commission from the seller, and that does not come out of your rate.

Commission you earn is money you made from your work, like any other payment: it lands in your bank and you sort it in Doddl like the rest.

10. Referral scheme

Every Doddl account has its own referral link. When someone new joins through your link and becomes a paying customer, we pay you £50. Here’s how it works.

  • Only people who are new to Doddl count. Someone who already has, or has had, a Doddl account doesn’t count.
  • Signing yourself up through your own link doesn’t count, and neither does a second account for the same person.
  • When you earn £50. You earn £50 for each person who joins through your link, pays their first £189 for the yearly plan, and keeps the plan for 30 days after that first payment. One £50 per paying person, however many times they use the link.
  • When there’s no £50. If they cancel during their free trial, or within 30 days of their first payment, there’s no £50. Cancelling within 30 days means getting a full refund or a chargeback. Simply switching off the next year’s renewal doesn’t count as cancelling, so your £50 still stands.
  • The offer is the same in the app and on our website. It doesn’t matter whether they join in the iPhone app, paying through Apple’s in-app purchase, or on doddl.app.
  • How and when we pay. We pay what you’ve earned on the 1st of each month, by bank transfer to the account you give us in the app. There’s no minimum amount. Once a £50 is confirmed, we won’t take it back.
  • How long it stays claimable. Money you’ve earned stays claimable for 12 months. If you haven’t added your bank details by then, it lapses. If you delete your Doddl account before it’s paid, it’s lost.
  • It counts as income. Referral money is money you made, so add it to Doddl as a payment when it arrives.
  • Fair play. Before a referral is confirmed, we can hold or cancel it if it looks like it breaks these rules, and we can suspend a link that is being misused. If we do, we’ll tell you why.
  • Ending the scheme. We can change or end the scheme, telling you first. Anything you have already earned by then still gets paid.

11. Launch offer

If you join Doddl through someone’s referral link, you get our launch offer:

  • a 14-day free trial of the yearly plan;
  • then £189 a year, charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then;
  • your 2025/26 tax return included free, once your first £189 payment goes through.

The offer is the same whether you join in the iPhone app, paying through Apple’s in-app purchase, or on doddl.app. If you open a referral link on your phone and then join in the app, you can save the offer to your email address on our website and we’ll email you a code, so the offer is waiting for you when you sign up with that email. The rest of section 7 (plans and payment) applies as normal. The offer is personal to you, and we can change or end it, telling you first; anything already promised to you still stands.

12. Partner programme

Anyone can become a Doddl partner, whether or not they use Doddl themselves. You sign up on our website, and we make your partner link for you. Partners earn the same way as section 10: £50 for each new person who joins through your link, pays their first £189 and keeps the plan for 30 days, paid on the 1st of each month by bank transfer to the bank details you give us on our website, with the same rules about who counts, the 12-month claim window and ending the scheme.

When you promote Doddl, please:

  • make no claims about anyone’s tax outcome, such as how much tax they’ll save or that they won’t owe anything;
  • don’t pretend to be Doddl or speak for us, and make clear the link is yours;
  • don’t buy search ads on the Doddl name or anything close to it.

We can suspend a partner link, or end someone’s place in the programme, if these rules are broken or the link is being misused. If we do, we’ll tell you why, and anything you earned fairly before then still gets paid.

The money you earn as a partner is yours to declare. Your own tax on it is your responsibility, not ours.

13. Leaving

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: no calls, no forms. What happens to your data when you do is covered in our privacy policy.

We can suspend or end your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms; if we do, we’ll tell you why unless the law prevents us.

14. Our promises and their limits

We work hard to keep Doddl available, accurate and safe, but no software is perfect: we provide the service with reasonable skill and care, and we don’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Because Doddl’s figures are estimates built from your own records (see sections 2 and 3), we are not liable for your tax position or for decisions you make based on the app. Our total liability to you, however arising, is limited to the amount you’ve paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud), or affects any rights the law gives you that cannot be taken away.

15. Reporting a security problem

If you find something that looks like a security weakness in Doddl, please email security@doddl.app with the details. We take reports seriously, act on them quickly, and won’t take action against anyone reporting in good faith.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product or the law changes. If a change matters to you, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The effective date at the top shows the current version. If you keep using Doddl after a change takes effect, that means you accept it, and if you don’t, you can leave at any time (section 13).

17. The legal wrapper

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, though if you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim where you live. If one part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
